Dear Smithfield Staff and Families,

This 40th edition of the Back to School report includes our weekly report on COVID cases, information on COVID testing,  and an update on town data. This will be our final report for the 2021-2022 school year. We wish you all a restful, healthy, and joy filled summer break.

A Weekly Report on COVID Cases

Since last week’s report, there are an additional 13 confirmed COVID cases. This brings our total for the 2021-2022 school year  to 1,163 cases. There was 1 case identified at SHS, 3 cases identified at Gallagher, 6 cases at Pleasant View Elementary, 2 cases at LaPerche Elementary,  0 cases at Old County Road Elementary and 1 case at our School Administration Building.

Town Data

The number of new weekly COVID cases in Smithfield rose to 26 cases from 21 last week.  The number of cases in the state dropped to 1705 from 2190 the week prior. The town rate corresponds to a weekly rate of 118 new cases per 100,000 residents. Our community’s risk level for COVID-19 transmission remains at medium.
