Dear Smithfield Staff and Families,

This 12th edition of the Back to School report includes our weekly report on COVID cases, vaccination clinics for ages 5-11, 3rd dose vaccination clinics, and town data. 

A Weekly Report on COVID Cases

Six cases were confirmed since the last Back to School Report for a total of 84 cases since the start of the school year.  Two cases were identified at SHS, one case was identified at Gallagher, one case was identified at Pleasant View Elementary, one case was identified at LaPerche Elementary, and one case was identified at Old County Road Elementary. Thank you for continuing to follow health and safety guidelines to keep our greater school community protected.

COVID Vaccination Clinics Scheduled for Ages 5 - 11

Registration is now open for vaccination for 5 to 11 year olds. The Town of Smithfield  clinic will be held on Saturday, November 13th from 10am to 2pm at Smithfield High School. The vaccine is the Pfizer pediatric vaccine.  The link to the clinic is:

https://www.vaccinateri.org/appointment/en/reg/8569550321 .  A clinic for dose 2 is tentatively scheduled to be held  on Sunday, December 5th at SHS.

COVID Vaccination Clinic for 3rd Dose

The Town of Smithfield will be hosting a Moderna Vaccine Third Dose Clinic on Saturday, November 20th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Smithfield Senior Center for individuals who have (1) received the Moderna vaccine at least six months ago AND (2) meet the CDC guidelines for a third dose of the vaccine.

Pre-registration is required for vaccinations. Please follow the link below to sign-up for the November 20th clinic: VaccinateRI.org   This third dose opportunity is for those residents who were administered the Moderna vaccine.

Town Data

The number of weekly new cases in RI for the week ending October 30th rose to 15 from 10 for the previous week. The town rate corresponds to a weekly rate of 68 new cases per 100,000 residents, which is considered a substantial rate of transmission as classified by the CDC.
